Making Moves
Learn the different ways to enter numbers and navigate the grid efficiently.
Selecting Cells
Mouse/Touch:
- Click or tap any cell to select it
- The cell highlights, showing it's active
Keyboard:
- Use arrow keys to move selection
- Selection wraps around edges
Entering Numbers
Once a cell is selected, enter a number:
Keyboard: Press 1-9 directly
Number pad: Click the on-screen buttons
Touch: Tap the number buttons below the grid
The number appears in the cell. If it conflicts with existing numbers, it shows in red.
Erasing Numbers
To clear a cell you've filled:
Keyboard: Press Backspace or Delete
Button: Tap the Erase button
Note: You cannot erase given numbers (the pre-filled clues).
Undo
Made a mistake? No problem:
Keyboard: Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac)
Button: Tap the Undo button
The undo history saves your entire session, so you can backtrack as far as needed.
Replacing Numbers
To change a number you've placed, simply:
- Select the cell
- Enter the new number
The old number is replaced. No need to erase first.
Quick Tips
- Click a cell with a number to highlight all cells with that same digit
- Use the N key to quickly toggle notes mode
- Watch the number pad buttons — they show how many of each digit remain
